Spearfishing Report, Blackpoint

We headed out of Blackpoint Marina for another spearfishing adventure this Saturday. Although the weather was nice low winds under 5mph, seas were suppose to be below 2's and were closer to 2-3's with some 4's in the mix. We headed outa Blackpoint Marina and out thru Sands Cut for some spearfishing. We were met with HORRIBLE viz in most places was about 5' and in others about 10' generally not the ideal for spearfishing, but murky water is what was served and so thats what we ended up spearfishing in. We ran around a few spearfishing wayponts we had recently aquired around the Boca Chica, Soldier Key, Sands Cut area and did alright. One of the spearfishing spots off of Sands Cut had about 12 hog snapper hovering around this one rock. We definitely had to work for each fish as all the spearfishing was done stalking the bottom...pretty taxing in 50' of water but we managed to spear some fish including a 19" hog (plus a few others in the 15-18" range) and a nice 29" black I shot thru a hole on the other side of a boulder, that was the last drop and a nice finale to our Blackpoint spearfishing adventure!
On another note if and when I get some pictures from a fellow spearfishing mate (errr, ummm, won't mention any names) I'll post another spearfishing report out of a great new spearfishing spot we discovered.

Till next spearfishing report, tight bands, straight shafts, and smooooooooth triggers!
